Syrian support to Lebanon against Palestinian action from the south

The al-Bayan daily issued in Dubai said on Friday that Lebanon asked for a Syrian support to halt the Palestinian operations in its south, and this was expressed in the telephone call made by the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud with President Bashar al-Assad.

The paper added that during the telephone call that the two sides reviewed the determination of certain Palestinian groups to move militarily outside the camps in Lebanon especially on the southern borders. Lahoud expressed his regret over the operation in which two members of the People's Front For Liberation of Palestine- General Command- Ahmad Jibril, were killed in Kafer Shouba near the blue line just one week ago.

The paper said that the telephone call reflected the mutual understanding of the Lebanese to prevent the Palestinians from any military operation against Israel starting from the Lebanese territories.

The paper continued that reports say that the Israeli air force and anti-warplanes artilleries were put in utmost alert along the borders with Lebanon.

The paper added that one of the report said that Syria refused to permit the Palestinian fighters to attack any Israeli settlement from South Lebanon or to move by air from South Lebanon into the occupied territories launch military operations there.
