Fights between supporters for al-Bashir, al-Turabi
Sudan, Politics, 2/2/2001
The Sudanese daily Akhbar al-Youm said that supporters for the Sudanese President al-Bashir and his former ally Hammas al-Turabi clashed by knives and stones on Tuesday at al-Koran al-Karim university in al-Abyad town, 400 kilometers southern west of al-Khartoum.
The rows erupted after al-Turabi's supporters removed and tore posters for the ruling national congress party headed by President al-Bashir.
