Makadishu accuses Ethiopian forces of occupying a Somali city
Somalia-Ethiopia, Politics, 2/2/2001

Somali sources have accused the Ethiopian forces and allied Somali militias of occupying Jarbahari, the capital of Jeddo district to the southern of Somalia.

The sources stressed that the aim behind occupying Jarbahari is an attempt to arrest and obstruct a governmental delegation led by the minister of transport Abd Muhammad Juleid, the deputy minister of the agriculture and six members of the provisional parliament which was in a touring visit in the said district.

The sources stressed that members of the delegation had escaped and fled to an adjoining village.

Earlier, the Somali provisional government accused Ethiopia of occupying Somali cities in Jeddo, Bai, and Bakkoul districts in Southern Somalia.

The occupation of Jarbahari city comes just several days after the end of the meeting of certain war chiefs leaders who stand against the government and ally to Ethiopia and their unanimous agreement to declare a regional government called Southern West Somalia after 45 days.
