An international conference on Islam dubbed "Islam and contemporary society" opened on Thursday in Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan. The forum means to highlight the role of Islam in a laic society, particularly in the fields of knowledge and education, said head of the Uzbek sciences academy, Aulan Deletroz.
