Ancient Ptolemaic bath unearthed in north Sinai
Egypt, History, 2/1/2001
A mission from the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) in north Sinai unearthed an ancient bath that dates back to the Ptolemaic era in the third century AD said SCA Secretary General Dr. Gaballah Ali Gaballah.
The bath is located in Tel al Lolli area, 24 kilometers east the Suez Canal.
The bath is built with red bricks and has a number of chambers, some of which are dedicated to hot water and others to cold water.
"The bath contains outlets to discharge water and coloured mosaic ground", said Gaballah.
He noted that a report on the find was raised to Minister Culture Farouk Hosni, who decided to provide appropriations necessary to maintain the bath and restore the rest of the antiquities in north Sinai.
