Kuwait, Politics, 1/31/2001
Kuwait is preparing to change the formation of the next government after the ruler of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah had accepted the resignation of the government while the opposition forces are practicing to make "fundamental changes."
Kuwaiti parliamentary sources said on Tuesday that the " political forces" which is an unofficial alliance including six liberal, and opposition Islamic groups will meet today to draw a set strategy concerning the political crisis in the country.
One of these sources( asked not to be identified) added " it seems were are before an important turning point and important changes should be made in the structure of the next government."
On Monday, the ruler of Kuwait accepted the resignation submitted by the crown prince and prime minister Sheikh Saad al-Abdullah al-Sabah in which he noted in a message enclosed in his resignation "the obstacles hindering the serious efforts of the government towards attaining hopes attached to it.."
In contrary to what often happens. The crown prince was not immediately asked to form the new government. A matter which raised speculation on the possibility of having a fundamental change. The same parliamentary source said that " the closer solution at the meantime is that Sheikh Saad to be assigned to form the next government but with giving vaster authorities to his deputy, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah."
