Arab League view US role in the ME with great interest
Regional-USA, Politics, 1/31/2001

The Arab league (AL) representative at the UN Hussein Hasounah has stressed that the AL views with great interest the role played by the US administration led by George Bush in the process of establishing a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle east.

In a statement with Sawt al-Arab radio on Tuesday, Hasounah added that the AL secretary general Ismat Abdul Miguid will meet next week in New York with the UN secretary General Kofi Annan and with several American officials to get acquainted with the role played by the new UN administration in the peace process and its program for the coming phase.

He reiterated the importance of the recognition to be made by the US administration on the importance of establishing peace according to international legitimacy resolutions, the Madrid terms of reference and the land for peace formula.
