Syrian source denies Qusey Saddam Hussein's visit to Syria
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 1/31/2001
A well-informed Syrian source has categorically denied in a statement to the London- based al- Sharq al- Awsat daily the news published by the British daily " Sunday Times" two days before about a secret visit held by Qusey Saddam Hussein to Damascus by the beginning of January and that he had discussed with the Syrian officials the military situation in case a war erupts with Israel.
The Syrian source stressed that there is not any formula of military co-operation between Syria and Iraq, noting that these fabricated information were written by an Israeli journalist.
The Syrian source also denied other information mentioned in this article on the consent of President Bashar al-Assad that Iraq will deploy Iraqi military forces along the Iraqi- Syrian forces, noting that these information aim at justifying the perpetuated aggressive intention of the Israelis against Syria and Lebanon before the world public opinion.
