Abu al-Ragheb asks the King to exempt him from post
Jordan, Politics, 1/30/2001

The Jordanian weekly al-Majd learnt on Monday from sources its described as well-informed that the Jordanian prime minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb had two weeks ago asked King Abdullah II to exempt him from his post and justified this request of his health conditions and the increasing conflict of power forces surrounding his government.

The sources added that Abu al-Ragheb told the King that the atmosphere of conflict besieging his government undermine its ability to work and to make achievements as well as settling accumulated crisis and prevent this government from implementing its set programs.

The same sources continued that Abu al-Ragheb complained against the series of maneuvers, conspiracies and rumors launched and run by the opponents to the government who are greedy to take it over, noting all these attempts resulted in making the Jordanian political street stands against the government if it will increase fuel prices.

The sources expressed their conviction that the King had refused al-Ragheb request ( to be exempted from his post) and promised to increase his support for al-Ragheb government in facing its opponents.
