Libyan - Syrian higher committee concludes deliberation

Meetings of the 3rd session of the Syrian- Libyan joint higher committee chaired by Syrian prime minister Mustafa Miro and his Libyan counterpart Mubarak Abdullah al-Shamekh were concluded on Thursday in Libya in the presence of the two states' delegations.

The two sides agreed on the following: Political coordination and consultation between the two states for bilateral interests and for the interests of the Arab nation in deterring the aggressions, liberating the lands and protecting national security; Increasing the volume of trade exchange, setting up the free zone area between the two countries in implementation of the Greater Arab free trade market and then the common Arab market; Setting up a joint investment committee in the two countries and inviting the Arab states to take part in these companies to serve bilateral and common Arab interests; Inviting all Arab states to join their joint efforts to develop Arab co-operation and establish a joint Arab committee at the national level to follow up bilateral co-operation to attain Arab cooperation at all levels; Expressing high appreciation for the efforts made by Libyan President Mu'ammar al-Qaddafi to strengthen unity and stability in the African continent and highly commended the efforts made by Qaddafi to make an Arab- African space representing a strategic depth to the Arab states and they call on the Arab- African states to make relentless efforts in order to maintain integration in the service of their interests;

The two sides expressed the importance of convening a joint meeting between the Libyan people's general committee ( Cabinet) and the Syrian cabinet for further integrated relations between the two countries as well as finding out means to build the united Arab- African space and achieve integration among their countries; Backing the struggle mounted by the Palestinian people in order to restore back their legitimate rights and establish their own independent state on their national lands with Jerusalem as a capital; Supporting the Syrian people by all means to restore back the Golan up to June 4, 1967 border lines and backing for the struggle of the Lebanese people to liberate the Shebaa farms;

The two sides renewed solidarity with Libya and the call to abrogate all oppressive practices immediately and to lift the embargo imposed on its and; The two sides stressed the danger of Israel's having the mass- annihilation weapons especially the nuclear weapons and stressed the need of the international efforts made to force Israel to join the NPT and put all its nuclear establishments under the supervision of the International Agency for Atomic Energy.

The two sides stressed the need to have the Mediterranean a zone free from war fleets whose existence constitute a threat to the region countries ' security and safety.
