Russia, the US and Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 1/24/2001
Former UN chief inspector for weapons in Iraq Richard Butler said that Russia and the US are split over Iraq. A dispute which is for the benefit of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
He added in an interview with the press that the government of the new President George Bush should collaborate closely with Russia in its efforts to convince Iraq to permit the return of the UN inspectors to Iraq.
He added, commenting on what was announced by the CIA earlier that Iraq is re-building its factories and establishments which can be used to acquire chemical and biological weapons, that it is a great stupidity not to believe that they are trying again, adding that if inspection operations for weapons have not been made, the attempt to know what is going on in these buildings will be to the great extent a matter of mere guessing.
