2001 Judicial Year in Morocco Opens

Moorcco's King Mohammed VI who was accompanied by his brother Prince Moulay Rachid Chaired in Rabat Saturday the opening of the 2001 judicial year.
The king was handed on the occasion the emblem of the Supreme court and a dossier on the achievements completed in the judicial field.
First President of the supreme court, Driss Dahhak, surveyed in an address the court's decisions and rulings mainly those related to the protection of human rights and recalled that Morocco ratified several international conventions pertaining to human rights, such as the international charter on civic and political rights.
Public prosecutor to the court, Mohamed Abdelmounim El Mejboud, highlighted the role of the public prosecutor's office whose members, he said, are called to deeply scrutinize and explain the laws and to make proposals meeting requirements of economic and social changes.
The public prosecutor's office seeks to see international principles guide all judiciary actions and to consecrate justice as an essential implement to development. He mentioned in this regard the role of trade courts in the new international economic environment and in securing equity and transparency in relationships between businessmen.
The sovereign toured afterwards the various departments of the supreme court and heard explanations on the new technologies introduced to improve the court services.
