Turkey asks Israel to resume peace negotiations with Syria
Syria-Israel, Politics, 1/22/2001

The Turkish daily " Daily news" said on Sunday, quoting diplomatic sources that Turkey had asked Israel to resume peace negotiations with Syria.

In its Sunday's issue, the paper added that the Israeli foreign minister Shloumo Bin Ami who visited Ankara on Saturday said that Israel is waiting until the policies pursued by President Bashar al-Assad are cleared out.

The paper added that the Turkish President Ahmad Nacdit Ceasar stressed during his Saturday's meeting with Bin Ami that Turkey gives top interests to the resolutions of the UN security council no. 242 and 338 to establish a just and durable peace in the region and his country's complete backing to the ME peace process, while Bin Ami said that the return back to the beginning will lead to increasing diving down into the region and that israel does not want a sub- agreement, rather final agreements.
