Nongovernmental organizations accuse Mauritania of discrimination

A group of five non-governmental organizations supporting the black Mauritanians who are refugees in Senegal and Mali on Sunday in Dakar denounced the Mauritanian regime and accused it of racism and hating foreigners.
News reports said that these organizations which are taking part in a forum prepares to convene a regional African conference against racism and hating foreigners had accused in a press statement Nouakchott authorities over continuing its aggressive policy started in 1986 against black Mauritanians.
These organizations also expressed its regret over what is called the silence of the International and the African community, rather their involvement in this tragedy.
Among the signatories of the statement was the " human rights African meeting" organization which has Dakar as a headquarters. This organization co-ordinates works of the African non-governmental organizations against racism and hating foreigners which is held in Dakar in preparations to convening a regional African conference dealing with the same issue on January 22 to 24.
Some 500 delegates as well as the chairperson of the UNHCR Mary Robinson are expected to take part in this conference.
