ISESCO and Francophony Organization sign Cooperation Agreement
Regional, Culture, 1/19/2001
The Islamic Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO/based in Rabat) and the Paris-based international organization of the Francophony signed in Paris on Thursday a cooperation agreement.
The agreement, signed by ISESCO director general Abdelaziz Al-Tuwaijri and the Francophony secretary general Boutros-Boutros Ghali, is aimed at expanding relations between ISESCO member countries and French-speaking countries.
It is also aimed at establishing new rounds of cultural dialogue between the two groups, said Boutros Ghali.
Al-Tuwaijri said the agreement was also designed to disseminate a true image of the Islamic society and culture to the western world.
"There will also be seminars in this regard and cooperation on science and technology," he said.
Ghali said the next Francophony summit would be held in Beirut next October.
