North African port authorities agree on exchange intensification

The administrative board of the north African port authorities union closed on Thursday their 28 th session and agreed to intensify exchange of computerized data.
The Union groups Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Egypt.
The action program adopted provides for increasing data exchange, cooperation in training managers, modern handling of container terminals, improving ports performance and transit.
Cooperation between Morocco and Mauritania in this field was cited by secretary general of the Union, Mohamed Azzou, as a model of partnership.
On the fringes of the meeting, Morocco agreed to offer training to 50 Egyptian vehicle drivers working in container terminals, as part of the existing twinning act between the ports of Casablanca and Alexandria.
