Egypt will observe on Thursday the fourth anniversary of laying the foundation stone of Upper Egypt's Toshka mega project. The project aimed at bringing the Egyptians out of the five percent, the area of the old valley, to live on about 25 percent of the Egyptian area through reclaiming agricultural lands up to 3.4 million feddans by 2017.
A ceremony will be held in the project location in Toskha. Also, artists and writers will participate in the ceremony. Water Resources Minister said more than 80 percent of digging works at Sheikh Zayed Canal were completed as well as about 53.5 percent of the gigantic pumping station, named after President Mubarak .
The celebration spot will be provided with electricity from the temporary feeding station, which was built pending completion of the LE 3000-million power station, said Abu Zeid.
Special designs are being laid to provide irrigation water for an experimental area of 300 feddans, said Abu Zeid, noting these designs will be carried out under the B.O.T. system through finance by US investors up to $ 7 million.
