Rabat Arab conference calls for study on forms of children ill-treatments

A three-day Arab colloquy on "Children ill-treatments and exploitation" wound up in Rabat Wednesday calling for a study on forms of ill-treatment against children in the Arab states.

Recommendations adopted by participants from nine Arab states urge authorities to decree compulsory education until age of 16 and set at 15 the minimum age to start working.

The colloquy held by the Moroccan education science school and the Riyadh-based Arab academy of science and security also considered awareness of families and the creation of assistance centers for children victim of violence as musts.

Various forms of children ill treatments and exploitation both inside and outside the family, the relationship between ill-treatment and delinquency and the role of governmental and voluntary bodies in protecting children were studied by the conference.

An exhibition of books, publications and paintings by children and a children festival were held by Moroccan associations.
