Syria reiterates its backing to Kuwait's unity and sovereignty
Syria-Kuwait, Politics, 1/18/2001

The Syrian foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Wednesday asserted his country's commitment to the unity and sovereignty of the State of Kuwait. This was expressed in a telephone call he made with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah.

The Syrian news agency SANA that talks during the telephone call dealt with " certain Iraqi statements relating to the 10th anniversary of the Gulf war and its painful reflections on the status between Iraq and Kuwait.

SANA added that al-Shara stressed Syria's unwavering stand to backing the unity and sovereignty of the state of Kuwait on the ground of maintaining solidarity among the Arab states and unify their ranks in support of the Palestinian Intifada and refusing the Israeli threats and ambitions which aim at eliminating the Arab nation as a whole.
