Turkish daily highlights Syrian - Turkish relations

The Turkish daily radical has stated that despite the difficulties impeding political relations between Syria and Turkey and the postponement of signing the declaration of principles to normalize bilateral relations because of Hattai ( Al- Iskandaroun Sanjak), however, the two countries have decided to maintain cooperation and carry out joint projects in the fields of gas and oil industry.

The paper added that the Syrian officials will send signals to Ankara on their readiness to cooperate, adding that within this context the Syrian oil minister and his Turkish counterpart signed a memorandum of understanding that reflects the joint desire for cooperation.

The paper explained that Hattai still constitutes an obstacle in the Turkish - Syrian relations, as Ankara stressed the need of adding a " sentence" in the declaration of the principles in that Hattai Sanjak is no more a controversial issue ( that it is for Turkey) while Damascus persists that the declaration of principles only to indicate mutual respect of each of the two countries's sovreignty on their territories.
