Efforts to revive the Syrian track
Syria-Israel, Politics, 1/17/2001
The Lebanese daily al-Mustaqbal noted in its Tuesday's issue attempts to revive the Syrian- Israeli negotiation track after the new US President George Bush assumes duties this week. The sources quoted diplomatic sources in Beirut as saying that although pressures are made on Syria, yet Syria remains as an international need to control the situation in Lebanon. The sources said that the file of Syrian- Lebanese relations is from now on concerning the regional and international levels between the two edges of pressuring Syria, on the one hand and the need for it, on the other to control reactions in Lebanon.
