Libya will spare no effort to ensure total success to royal visit, triki
Libya-Morocco, Politics, 1/15/2001

Libya will spare no effort so that the official visit King Mohammed VI pays to Tripoli as of this Monday be crowned with total success.

The statement was made here Sunday by Libyan secretary of African unity, Ali Abdesslam Triki at a meeting with the Moroccan reporters currently visiting Libya to cover the royal visit.

The Libyan official said the visit and the summit talks between King Mohammed VI and head of the Libyan Revolution, Colonel Mouammar Khaddafi, will "give a new momentum to bilateral relations" and be "a major engine to joint Arab, Maghreban and African action."

The two heads of state meeting will provide opportunity to probe "all issues of mutual interest, at the bilateral scale and at the Maghreban, Arab, African and Islamic scales as well," Triki said. He asserted that Libya would spare no effort so that the visit be crowned with success and said the visit is "the prolongation of the regular and permanent consultation held between the two countries' leaderships under the reign of the late Hassan II."

He stated further that the members of the high level delegation accompanying the sovereign would assess with Libyan peers bilateral cooperation and explore existing opportunities to expand this cooperation, in line with the political will of the two heads of state.

Touching on the situation of the Moroccan community settled in Libya --and that is assessed at 100,000-- Triki said that Moroccans pose no problem whatsoever and are treated on equal footing with Libyans.
