Morocco picked as host for November's Arab women summit

The preparatory committee of the Arab women extraordinary summit approved here on Saturday Morocco's candidacy to host next November's summit.
The committee which met under the chairmanship of Egypt's first lady and chairwoman of the Egyptian national women council, Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, examined several issues related to the summit and decided on the venue of the five forums set up by the first Arab summit. The "women and politics" forum will be held next May in Tunisia, "women and information" will be hosted next July by the United Arab Emirates, "Women and law," will be held in Bahrain next April, "Arab women in immigration countries" is the topic of another forum next August in Jordan and Iraq will play host next June to the "women and society" forum.
The preparatory committee will meet again next February in Cairo to carry on study of the extraordinary summit agenda.
The first Arab women summit, held last November in Cairo, was chaired by Egypt's first lady and attended by several spouses of Arab heads of State and women figures. Morocco was represented by Princess Lalla Meryem, sister of King Mohammed VI.
