Iraq strongly criticizes Saudi foreign minister statements
Iraq-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 1/13/2001

Iraq on Friday strongly criticized the Saudi foreign minister Saud al-Faisal because of his recent statements he made in conclusion of meetings of the joint Saudi- Egyptian joint committee held last Tuesday, in which the Saudi foreign minister called on Baghdad to give up threatening its neighbor in order to bridge the rift and unify the Arab rank.

A spokesman for the Iraqi ministry of culture and the information, said that this " cheap political lies" can not hide the fact that the Saudi regime is a basic partner in the daily American- British aggression against Iraq.

The spokesman added that the Saudi regime is the last Arab regime who has the right to talk about " bridging the rift and unifying the Arab rank."

The Iraqi spokesman continued that the Saudi partnership in the British- American aggression which has been continuous on Iraq indicates " a Saudi persistence to deepen the rift taking place in the Arab regime and perpetuating the state of division in the Arab ranks."

Last Tuesday, the Saudi foreign minister called, following his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Amr Moussa in Riyadh for an inter- Arab reconciliation, including Iraq and to show Iraq's peaceful intention and to give up the language of threats to its neighbors.
