Israel admits using uranium ammunition

The Israeli army on Thursday admitted it has used US made shells including uranium in its military operations An Israeli military spokesman told AFP that these shells were used earlier in artilleries of Folcan Plinex type, SANA reported.
The agency added that the Israeli gunboats are equipped with artilleries of the same sort of 20 mm caliber able of firing 4000 to 6000 shots per minute.
The Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot which disclosed this issue on Thursday said that these shells which are used by NATO have been used during the past 20 years and that soldiers had frequently slept near the piles of these shells On Wednesday, NATO announced the formation of a special committee in charge of evaluating the consequences of the use of the said uranium on health.
