One Palestinian killed; A new tripartite meeting expected soon in Washington

The channel 2 at the Israeli TV on Thursday said that it is expected that a tripartite meeting to be held in Washington including the US President George Bush, the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak and the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat to discuss the possibility of resuming negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Well-informed Palestinian sources said that the Palestinian and Israeli sides have reached an understanding concerning the proposals of the US President Bill Clinton.

For its part, the Israeli radio said that this understanding led to the delay of the visit of the US ME peace coordinator Dennis Ross to the region.

Meantime, the Israeli minister of Tourism Amnoun Shahak underestimated chances of reaching a detailed and quick agreement between the two sides with the nine days so far left in the term of President Clinton's office.

Shahak's statements were made in common of optimistic statements on a nearby suspension of the Palestinian uprising in light of results of the recent meeting at Erez barrier on Wednesday. The Israeli President Moshe Ksav expressed his opposition to sign any political agreements with the Palestinian side before the Israeli elections.

Meantime, the Palestinian Authority has refused a Canadian proposal to settle unlimited number of the Palestinian refugees in the framework of an agreement between the Israeli and the Palestinian sides in the future.

A new statistics revealed that 10% of the Jewish settlers who arrived from the former Soviet Union has left Israel definitely.

The al-Resalah ( message ) daily issued in Israel said that Israeli extremists are planning to explode al-Aqsa mosque and to carry out massive acts of killing against the Palestinians inside the courtyards of the Mosque.

A Palestinian youth was killed by the Israeli bullet and the Israeli forces continued detention campaigns against the Palestinians.

An israeli military source said in a statement to the Israeli radio that the Israeli- Palestinian security meeting held at Erez barrier in Gaza resulted in restoring security co-ordination between the two sides and the Palestinian side was requested to work for what it called reducing the level of violence in the Palestinian territories, noting that the Palestinian Authority will carry out these demands.

Palestinian citizen Muhammad Saeed Ghanem was killed in confrontations took place between the Palestinian citizens and the Israeli occupations forces near Jenin.

A Palestinian source said that Ghanem was killed when the Israeli soldiers opened their fire and tear-gas bombs near Jenin against the Palestinians under the pretext of throwing stones.

Meanwhile, the Israeli forces, in a strong detention campaign launched in the West Bank detained four Palestinians two of them are member of the Palestinian preventive security department and the other two are members at the Fatah movement in al-Aroub camp near al-Khalil ( Hebron) under charges of committing operations against Israelis.
