Egypt's role in propagating human rights
Egypt, Culture, 1/11/2001

Egypt has signed two cooperation agreements with the United Nations in the fields of development and human rights between the Ministry of Information and the UN program for development.

The second agreement has more funds than the last year, which resulted in mammoth achievements, being praised by the UN officials, Ministry of Interior and the General Prosecutor in Egypt.

This agreement is concerned with the joint cooperation so as to effect awareness of human rights for police officers and prosecutors.

Such an agreement highlighted Egypt's keenness on spreading awareness of human rights. Egypt has been a party in several international human rights documents. Through its permanent missions in New York and Geneva, it takes part in the UN discussions of all issues related to the human rights.

Merry Robinson, the High Commissioner for human rights, hailed Egypt as the springboard for propagating human rights in the Arab world and Africa.
