Jordan studies increasing state's employees salaries

Governmental sources in Amman said on Jan 8 that the Jordanian government is currently studying increasing state ­ employees salaries, following the initiative by the Jordanian King Abdullah to increasing salaries of the armed forces recruited workers.

These source stressed that the risk borne by the state treasure as a result of such an increase will be 30 million Kuwaiti dinars.

The sources expressed the hope of the government that this decision after its release will alleviate the people's reaction to the increase in the prices of oil- byproducts, as these sources noted that Benzene price will increase at 25% and this will lead consequently to an increase on kerosene and mazoute prices while gas prices will be much increased.

However, during his meeting on Jan 7 with the financial committee at the Jordanian parliament, the Jordanian prime minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb said that the government will work improve the living conditions for the state employees to alleviate what risks citizens will bear as a result of the increase in several fuels.
