Palestinians refuse security coordination with Israel
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/10/2001
The chairman of the Palestinian preventive security department in Gaza Muhammad Dahlan said that the Palestinians have refused to resume security coordination with Israel during the security meeting which was held in Cairo on Sunday.
The Israeli Hebrew- language radio quoted Dahlan as saying on Tuesday that Israel was persistent to resuming security coordination but the Palestinians deliberately refused that. A situation which resulted on that sides concerned did not reach any agreement despite the pressures made on members of the Palestinian security delegation.
Dahlan denied what was stated by certain Israeli sides on that Israeli and Palestinian army officers will hold security meetings. He stressed that these meetings are just periodical meetings between the two sides security members to maintain an understanding over what he called daily living matters for the Palestinians and at any rate meetings for security coordination.
