A Yemeni - American security project

The Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am said on Sunday quoting western diplomatic sources in Sanaa that a Yemeni- American project for security cooperation between the two countries are now under study.

The sources added that American diplomats proposed to Yemen the establishment of a Yemeni national programs to fight smuggling through the sea and eliminate acts of sea piracy and random fishing in the Yemeni territorial waters in the Red Sea, The Gulf of Aden and the Arab Sea, in which the US and several donor states especially the European states are taking part.

The program aims at strengthening the protection of the American forces in the Red Sea, the Arab Sea and the port of Aden in the future and to eliminate certain security gaps which surfaced after the explosion in the American warship "USS Cole."

Meantime, the Saudi daily al-Watan said in its Sunday issue that there are information indicate that the American team which arrived in the city of Aden on Saturday and includes nine persons is a survey team for Yemeni areas and that it is believed that coming American forces will station on these areas.

In its Sunday's issue, the paper added that the team of the American investigators which investigate in the question of the American warship " cool" which underwent to a suicide attack on October 12 arrived in Yemen on Sunday.
