Jordanian King confers with Arafat

Jordanian King Abdullah II has stressed that meeting all Palestinian legitimate rights is a set condition to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region..
During his meeting on Sunday with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat who held a short visit to Jordan on Sunday and left it immediately after the meeting, the Jordanian King said that finding a just solution to the question of Palestine guarantees their right to return and be compensated on the ground of international legitimacy resolutions and a basic demand to achieve peace accepted by all peoples and ensures regional stability.
In statements to the press following the meeting, Arafat said that his meeting with the Jordanian King Abdullah falls in the course of consultations and coordination and the intensive and continued political and diplomatic move between Jordan and the palestinian Authority.
Concerning the question of having a third party to supervise Jerusalem, Arafat said that this issue was not officially so far debated, noting that what was issued by the Arab-follow up committee which was held in Cairo was clear and strong.
For his part, the Jordanian foreign minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib said that Arafat briefed the Jordanian King with the details of his talks with the US President Bill Clinton and acquainted him with the Palestinian position towards the American proposals debated by the US President on the Palestinian and Israeli sides two weeks ago and their needs to get assertions to explain these proposals and the need to have the peace process terms of reference is the international legitimacy as well as UN resolutions 242 and 338.
For his part, Arafat's advisor Nabil Abu Rudinah said that the real problem is that the Israeli side did not carry out Sharm esh Sheikh understandings, adding that this was the essence of Arafat's talks with the American President. A matter which pushed Clinton to interfere again in a new attempt before he leaves the white house.
Abu Radinah added that during the 48 coming hours the result of what will happen of contacts will surface, noting that the coming notes are considered important and decisive.
