Regional security center in Doha

For the first time since its foundation and convening its first meeting in Istanbul and the second in Cyprus in 2000, the international committee for security and co-operation for West Asia ( USCWA) has decided to hold its third meeting in Doha as a first step of its kind in a Gulf meeting country.

Circles close to the meeting said that it will concentrate on building and consolidating confidence among the countries of the region which is composed of a three- line triangle- The Gulf Cooperation Council GCC member states; Iraq and Iran.

It was learnt that the meeting which concludes its meetings tomorrow (Sunday) will issue Doha declaration which will reflect the vision of the participants to support regional security and cooperation.

The issue of establishing a regional center for security and co-operation in one of the region's countries constitutes the main issue which will be agreed upon. Doha is expected to be the headquarters for this center.
