Casablanca court turns down media-trust application to issue new weeklies
Morocco, Politics, 1/5/2001
The Casablanca Administrative court turned down the application by the "Media-Trust" group to issue two new weeklies in replacement of the banned "Le Journal" and "Assahifa."
The group had requested from the court an end to material prejudice caused by implicit decision of the Anfa first instance court attorney not to deliver a receipt for the application which would have entitled the group to publish the two weeklies awaiting a final authorization by the court.
The government banned the group weeklies saying they repeatedly attacked Moroccan institutions harming the democratic process in the kingdom, MAP reported.
