JICA chairman visits Syria on January 18

The Japanese embassy in Damascus has announced on Thursday the chairman of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency JICA will visit Syria on January 18 to exchange view points with several Syrian officials on means of strengthening cooperation between Syria and Japan.
Worthy mentioning that JICA is a Japanese governmental establishment that maintains technical and economic cooperation between Japan and the developing countries.
Volume of cooperation between Syria and JICA in the year 2000 reached 1.1 billion Japanese Yen ( US $ 10 millions) and number of Syrian trainees who were sent to Japan reached 82 while Japan had sent 86 experts to Syria, besides allotting US $ 420,000 to back the activities conducted by those experts.
