Syrian President takes part in the afforestation campaign in Damascus countryside

President Bashar al-Assad has taken part in the national campaign for planting fruit and forest trees on the occasion of Syria's celebrations of the Arbor Day which will be marked today ( Thursday) in Hesya district in Homs.
President al-Assad took part at the afforestation efforts at prophet Habeel site in Damascus countryside In earlier similar activities President al-Assad in 1997 took part in the afforestation operations carried out in Jdidit al-Sheibani area, Damascus countryside where 300,000 saplings were implanted.
Worthy mentioning that the afforestation plan for this year in the course of celebrating the Arbor Day in Syria dedicated 24,000 hectares for planting forest sapling and other 24,000 hectares for fruit trees.
The Syrian ministry of Agriculture has put some 50,000 million fruit and forest saplings at the disposal of sides concerned and individuals taking part in the afforestation campaign for this year.
