Morocco endeavors to regulate senior officials' salaries, minister
Morocco, Politics, 1/4/2001

The Moroccan government is endeavoring to regulate the salaries of senior officials part of a general policy, minister in charge of relations with the parliament, Mohamed Bouzoubaa said.

"It was decided in 1999 under the good governance charter, not to pay any compensation to the state, public institutions and local councils' officials for their positions as members of governing boards or for their participation in these boards meetings," Bouzoubaa told the house of representatives (lower chamber of parliament).

The minister recalled that the government already started three years ago to suppress in-kind advantages granted to senior officials and high-ranking executives of public institutions.
