Iraq, Local, 1/3/2001

Member of the higher council for the Islamic revolution in Iraq Bayan Jaber has stressed for the Kuwaiti daily al- Rai al- Am that Saddam Hussein was admitted at the Iraqi hospital of Ibn Sina, which is close to the presidential palace on Sunday evening after he had felt strong pains in his chest as he was taking part at "al-Aqsa call " military parade.

According to his special information from inside Iraq, Jaber added that doctors had recommended Saddam Hussein not to take part in the military parade but he did not stick to the recommendations and he appeared at the beginning of the parade wearing heavy clothes and after he opened fire ( marking the beginning of the parade ) before the media he started to feel pains in his chest after which he was admitted to hospital.

Jaber explained that re- screening " al-Aqsa call" parade at the Iraqi TV was delayed until 9 p.m. Monday in order to re- arrange shots and to re-produce excerpts in which Saddam looks tired, noting that the Iraqi security forces still besiege the surrounding of the hospital and the Presidential palace.
