The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution aiming at enhancing relationship between the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity, deepening cooperation with the Organizations in the political, security, economic, social and cultural fields.

Egypt's Chief delegate to the United Nations Ambassador Ahmed Abul-Gheit said that the resolution embodied the strong relationship between the United Nations and the OAU, indicating that the strong relationship between the UN and the OAU has contributed to maximizing world interest in the problems and sufferings of the African Continent which suffers much in terms of conflicts some of which are moving towards settlement.

In its resolution, the General Assembly called for observing goals provided in cooperation program between the two organizations.

The General Assembly called for developing OAU efforts and its endeavours for getting development aid from donor organizations.
