German archaeologists discovered that it was the ancient Egyptians who performed surgeries to use artificial limbs thousands of years ago.

German archaeologists found a lady who died three thousand years ago west of Thebes near the city of Luxor. They found that one of her toes was just an artificial toe.

They believed that the toe of the lady was amputated and an artificial wooden one was fixed instead. The toe consisted of three joint parts, an egyptian report said.
