Iraq and Turkey intend to open a second border center
Iraq-Turkey, Politics, 12/23/2000
The Turkish and the Iraqi government have reached an agreement in their views to open a second border center between the two countries.
Farouk Loglo told journalists that there is an agreement in the view points concerning this issue. He added that technical discussions which started earlier this month on this matter will continue in January, 2001.
He added that the two countries showed a strong political desire to open this border center.
Replying to a question on the current visit made by the Iraqi foreign ministry secretary Nouri Elweis, Loglo said that Elweis asked the Turkish authorities to halt the US- British Northern operation to monitor the " no fly Zone" embargo on north Iraq which the Turkish parliament postponed last Sunday for other six months.
