Phosphate Workers To Go On Strike January 3 And 4
Morocco, Local, 12/21/2000
Two major trade unions, CDT and UGTM, have called workers in all sectors of activity of the Office Chérifien Des Phosphates (OCP) group to a 48 hour general strike on January 3, said a release of the unions' bureaus. The call comes after a series of meetings with management which remained adamant in turning down all claims and proposals, it said.
The unions blamed the strike on management's stiff stand and called top executive to reconsider approach meeting social claims with immediate suspension of the 138 note on the new retirement system.
