Morocco earmarks $ 100 mln for anti-drought struggle

Morocco has announced a $ 100 million for the second phase of the national program to alleviate drought effects.
The sum will be used to save livestock, digging water points and the purchase of seeds and fodder.
A severe drought has hit Morocco during the past two years, pushing the government to devise a $ 650 million to curb the effects of the plague.
Agriculture plays a key role in the Moroccan economy, employing half of a 10-million workforce and contributing almost 20 % of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
