Habash calls for continuos Intifada
Syria-Palestine, Politics, 12/21/2000
The founder of the "People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine " George Habash on Wednesday made a call from Damascus for continuing the Intifada in reply to Washington's negotiations which he had strongly criticized.
In a statement he circulated in Damascus he said " Let the whole world hear the high word of the Intifada: No for Washington's meetings. No, for continuing Oslo policy, nor for giving 'gifts' to Barak and Clinton."
Habash added " the chairman of the Palestinian Authority ( Yasser Arafat) and Oslo team are persistent to continue the policy which threatens the Palestinian cause as a whole, violating the consensus reached by the Palestinian people and their national forces."
He called on the Palestinians to " continue the Intifada and to make greatest losses in the Israeli " occupation " army and the Jewish settlers.
Habash ( 74 year old) had resigned this year from his post as a secretary general of the people's front to write down his memoir and the history of the Arab nationalists movement, from which the people's front emerged in 1968.
