Saudi- Yemeni security meeting in January

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and members of the accompanying delegation arrived in Jeddah on Wednesday in a visit during which he will perform al-Omra rituals.

President Saleh will meet with the Saudi King and the crown prince Abdullah who are spending that last ten days of Ramadan in Mecca.

On the other hand, the Yemeni minister of the Interior Lt. Gen. Hussein Muhammad Arab said that a plenary security meeting will be held between the Saudi and Yemeni sides in Sanaa in January.

In a statement to the Saudi daily al-Jazira issued on Wednesday, Arab explained that the meeting will include specialists representing security departments from the two sides to discuss means of strengthening Saudi- Yemeni relations and to find out a qualitative stride towards maintaining bilateral security coordination and cooperation, with all based on the borders treaty between the two sides.

The Yemeni minister of the Interior expressed his hope that the security agreement signed between the two states will attain more successes of interests to their security and stability especially in regard to exchanging information and fighting crime.

However, meetings of the 12th Saudi- Yemeni coordination council was held in al-Madina la-Nunowara on December 11 and 12 following a cessation of more than 10 years, and after the two states signed their international border demarcation treaty.
