Ethiopia to release some 390 Eritrean prisoners

The Ethiopian government on Tuesday evening announced it will release some 390 Eritrean prisoners in the very near future.

A statement by the Ethiopian government read at the Ethiopian TV said that the wounded prisoners will be released before Christmas noting that other prisoners will be released later but the number of the released prisoners was not declared.

The statement added that it was agreed to release Eritrean prisoners during talks held with the International Committee of the Red Cross.

These talks were held in the course of the agreement signed between the Presidents of the two countries in Algeria last week to end their borders war in which tens of thousands of soldiers were killed.
