Premier chairs inter-ministerial commission meeting on women promotion
Morocco, Culture, 12/20/2000

Moroccan prime minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, chaired on Monday a meeting of the inter-ministerial commission looking into the promotion of women status.

Youssoufi said the commission is a body for consultation and cooperation between various ministerial departments to follow up governmental measures to promote women status at the economic, social, political and technological levels, says a statement of the prime minister's office.

He also said it is urgent that the convention for the struggle against all forms of discrimination against women, signed by Morocco, be published in the official gazette.

The prime minister set two commissions to follow up implementation of the governmental program on the situation of women and look into best means to fight all forms of violence against women. He said the two commissions should present results of their work before the last week of February.
