Moroccan citrus fruits producers and exporters call Madrid to guarantee safety of their products
Morocco-Spain, Agriculture, 12/20/2000
The Moroccan association of citrus fruits producers and exporters (ASPAM) said it is the Spanish government responsibility to guarantee the security of Moroccan products transiting Spanish territory, in conformity with laws of international trade and provisions of the Morocco-EU association agreement.
Following threats by Andalusian fishermen organizations to loot Moroccan exports to Europe, the association said it is surprised by ongoing confusion between Morocco-EU negotiations over fisheries and Moroccan exports.
The association also asked Moroccan authorities and European bodies to act to guarantee the safety of Moroccan products transiting through Spain and avoid looting and vandalism actions similar to those of last January.
Moroccan citrus fruits producers and exporters said they are the Spanish government will shoulder its responsibility to preserve the existing privileged relations between Morocco and Spain.
