Kofi Annan: sanctions on Iraq losing value
Iraq, Politics, 12/20/2000
The UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has considered on Tuesday the economic sanctions imposed on Iraq as being gradually devalued.
He expressed his hope to attain a progress in the relations between the UN and Iraq during meetings to be held in January, 2001 with an Iraqi delegation.
News reports in New York said that Annan hoped to find out means to get out of the deadlocked road during the coming meeting.
It is, however, decided that Annan will meet by the beginning of 2001 a high ranking Iraqi delegation chaired by the deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz.
