Khatami stresses Iran's desire to settle islands crisis with the Emirates

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami has stressed that his country desires to find out a peaceful settlement for its differences with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the islands of Tunb the Great, Tunb the Small and Abu Mousa situated in the Arab Gulf area near Hurmoz passage.
News reports quoted the Iranian President as saying in statements issued on Tuesday by the Qatari daily al-Sharq that Tehran is working with the aim to find out the proper atmosphere of sincerity and dialogue at highest level and without any mediation with the aim to solve the question of these islands.
He expressed his confidence in the possibility of finding out the appropriate solutions.
