Muslims ,Christians live in harmony in Egypt

Egypt's Pope Shenouda III, Head of Egypt's Coptic Orthodox Church hosted Monday an Iftar (Muslims' fast-breaking meal).
The Iftar was attended by Prime Minister Atef Ebeid, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Mohammad Said Tantawi, Speaker of the Shura Council Moustafa Kamal Helmy, Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdel Meguid, Minister of Endowment Hamdi Zaqzouq. Egypt's Mufti Nasr Farid Wasel as well as a number of ambassadors and prominent figures.
Sheikh Tantawi underlined that Muslims and Christians in Egypt live in harmony and are bound by joint interests. He lauded national unity and wished the Egyptians well under President Hosni Mubarak.
In his speech, Helmy stressed the national unity and alluded to the Egyptians' strong faith and commitment to freedom. He reaffirmed that Muslims and Christians enjoy the same rights and have the same obligations.
Pope Shenouda III hailed the struggle of Egyptians, Muslims and Christians, for the good of their country.
He recalled their courageous struggle against the British colonization.
